EXSYS new gear hobbing attachment

The attachment eliminates the need to rough gears on one machine then transfer them to another for gear hobbing. It can be also used for machining tough alloys for applications like aerospace work.

The EPPINGER Gear Hobbing Attachment from EXSYS Tool, Inc. can be used to generate accurate external gear teeth on a wide range of shaft-type components.

Designed for all machine tool brand turrets (live stations), the attachment delivers single-setup, one-operation gear cutting capability to help increase machine tool output.

With the gear hobbing attachment, shops can generate splines, spur or helical gears. The attachment’s adjustable tool-holding system eliminates the need to rough gears on one machine then transfer them to another for gear hobbing.

To compensate for different types of grooves and pitches in splines and gears, users simply adjust the attachment’s vernier dial to the applicable settings.

As a gear-driven system, the gear hobbing attachment handles hefty machining loads.

It is also equipped with heavy duty bearings for high precision and rigidity.

The attachment generates 45 Nm of torque and runs at speeds as fast as 5,000 rpm for hobs or slotting saws up to 2.480" in diameter, making it suitable for machining tough alloys, such as those often used in the aerospace industry.
